Random Art Tips!

Hello! So, this may not be very well known, but I am an artist on the side when I am not focusing on programming and I wanted to make a list of art tips kinda geared towards newer artists. Enjoy!

  1. Never be afraid to begin: know that no matter what no one expects your first piece to be the Mona Lisa. That fear of taking the first step will only keep you from starting a very relaxing, stimulating, creative, and at times even profitable hobby. If you are too scared to draw something, then follow a tutorial or do the classic... Draw a fish. Fish are extremely easy to draw and can be a nice ice breaker for beginners.

  2. Join an Art Community: As odd as it may sound, being an anonymous artist in an art community can help you meet great artists who are more than willing to give you tips and tricks on drawing. For example, Furries have a Very welcoming community with thousands of artists who all love what they do with a burning passion. These communities can provide great stepping stones for a new hobby or even a career.

  3. Start over if you need to: Starting a piece over may seem like a waste of time even if the piece isn't turning out the way you want, but I can assure you that redoing a piece only gives you a higher chance of making it just the way you want. Never stick with the first thing you draw, try stuff out and see what works. You'd be surprised what works out.

  4. Find inspirations: This is a much more rather abstract and personal thing, but look into yourself and your surroundings for anything the inspires you. Something to rile your thoughts and draw out your creativity.

  5. Simplify: Sometimes if you worry too much you'll miss out on the bigger picture. Take time to simplify things, focusing on one layer of details at a time, building your skills from the ground up.

And that is it, for the time being. I hope these tips can help you get into the swing of things!

    Keep howling,
    Wolf.
