Cyberpunk 2077 Review - Pre Play Review

Preplay Review

This is a little review I want to do before playing the new game Cyberpunk 2077. To make it clear, I do not yet own the game and all of my analysis on it is from an outside perspective of someone who doesn't have the game yet. Likewise, I wasn't a part of the hype train either, I didn't much take note of Cyberpunk 2077 till around 2018 when I found out about it and it's predecessor table top game, Cyberpunk 2020.

Graphics

From a first look I see a beautiful game that, while may not meet some people's expectation, I feel like is exceptionally beautiful. Between the implementation of ray tracing and the immense implementation of things like bump maps and normals all coming together in a well crafted environment and it looks amazing, even on a stream that had to use lower quality for streaming reasons.

Game Design

As far as the game design elements, it seems like a well thought-out game as far as the environment goes. There seems to be many little things scattered about to encourage you to try out a talent and it also includes a save system which allows you to throw down saves when ever. This can be a bit jarring for people who are used to the use of respawn points like in other Open World RPGs or general Open World Games, for example the use of hospitals as respawn points in single player GTA V or the respawning nearby in the GTA V Online.

Along with that, the game seems to really keep well to it's Retro 80's style aesthetics, a style I personally love due to my love of the look of Neon blanketed cities that come alive at night like a personal project I am working on. The outfits are quite fitting as well, having high levels of tech implemented into some while others show of the change of how people see decency or outfit based freedoms along with self confidence.

With that said though, there is another thing I will touch on and that is the design of Items and Combat. When it comes to the combat and items the game takes a much more looter-shooter approach, as many say, having weapons that you just toss aside for better weapons. The game also has crafting which seems to be falling into the same trap as crafting in most RPGs where the reward is no where near worth it. I will have to play it myself to know for sure, but I do have some suggestions on how to improve this system coming up with my next topic.

Mods and Customization

Mods, Mods, Mods! I love mods and Cyberpunk 2077 gives me chills of excitement to bite into with the rest of the modding community. While this game is released, there will definitely be many modders (including myself) who are gonna flock to the game to expand it in their own visions from mods that will add quests, to followers, to weapons, to armor. Mods will come and it will be amazing when they do... or If they do. The thing is, the game is new and not many people will be modding it right off the bat, but if CDPR releases something to allow us to mod it easily there will be many, many, many mods to come.

To continue my thoughts on the items, if CDPR does not go about changing the crafting system and item systems there will definitely be mods that will come in to change it themselves. I personally would like to see the ability to make modular weapons that you can customize to your own liking and upgrade as the game goes on with your own signature design... perhaps even call it just that, signature weapons... No one tell Ubi though or they may have a cow about it (Cough, Division 2, Cough). Likewise, I envision that there will be mods to overhaul fashion in the game, allowing you to change your character's appearance separate from their stats and maybe even add new types of equipment like collars or arm guards.

Along that same vein, I do hope that some options to change the GUI comes up some time cause it will probably help out a lot of people including those who are partially or fully color blind.

Expectations and Closing Statements

I think I am gonna have quite a lot of fun with this game, when ever I do get it, and I do feel like CDPR are definitely not done with it yet. If I am to predict their next actions, they are probably focusing work on taking out bugs and fixing up some story elements, making their strengths stronger, and probably will work on the other bits that are lacking later.

As for my expectations, I do feel like Cyberpunk 2077 will be a new game I add to my "Thousand of Hours Played" list as I take to the streets of Night City and take to the code of the game. Who knows, I may even make some outfits of my own in the game from a certain project I am working on, since they'd probably fit so well.

but that's all for now, So I will see you in Cyberpunk 2077, Samurai.

Thanks for Reading and Keep Howling, Wolves.

Interesting idea

So I was thinking about models and what not cause I was thinking about how to make models and how to effect models with physics when I thought of something...

Imagine  a system that allows you to squash or stretch models based on your own set parameters.

for example, when doing cloth simulations you will often run into the issue of when you put the model's arm down to their side the model will collide with the other part of the model. if you make it so they can just go through, the physics won't know what to do... but what if you made it so that there is something there that can define how the model would react in the situation. Accurately and realistically squish and change the model temporarily to reflect it like arms pressing against the side, pants pulling in a stomach, thighs squished by tight clothes, and just general parts of the body when pressed against other objects.

Perhaps there could even be a way to define this through weight painting as a primitive form of a proper physics engine that could simulate that.

and if physics engines can accurately simulate cloth, water, fat/flesh, and actually change models on the fly, then imagine what could come next...

Wedging simulations, Destruction Sims, Etc! So on and So Forth!

Random Christian Ramble

Remember friends...

The Lord judges you not by the color of your skin,
nor the blood in your veins,
nor even the person you love...

The Lord judges you by the actions you take with the body you are given...
and the morals you choose.

Show not hate towards your fellow man,
nor use the Bible as a weapon,
For the Lord's word is love,
And so shall it be.

Remember to hold close those you love
and keep near to the people you care about
for this world is chaotic and dangerous.

May you all feel safety in the thought that there will always be someone who cares about you.
May thee feel hope that we have the power to change this...
This world.
This reality.
This life.
This body we use.

Amen & Keep Howling,
Wolf.

Random art update

So... I was thinking about making a page here on my blog for art and for writing and what not cause DA changed their layout to a cluttered mess, not everyone is brave enough to wade through the art of FA, and I really don't have anywhere else that would be a good place to share my art.

So... starting some time soon I will begin to post my art here, starting with a possible backlog of art from both FA and DA along with possible never before seen art!

UPDATES

Hey guys, a small little update here, Secrets of the Dax'thuu is coming along quite well and I even have some ideas for a couple modules (Possibly, I may just keep them as personal campaign ideas.) Along with that I have a couple other things to talk about.

Starting off with Secrets of the Dax'thuu

I've been trying to keep up work on this for a bit and have been kinda stifled in my efforts by, well, ya' know... Lack of motivation. You thought I was gonna say the Quarantine, weren't ya? Hah. anyways, it's been a bit hard to work on this along with everything else, but I have been trying to work on it so I have a little bit of a reveal for something coming with the Secrets of the Dax'thuu…

The All New Heliomancer Pseudoclass.

Now, first thing I wish to answer is "What is a Pseudoclass?" A Pseudoclass is a form of class that you earn the title of through discovering it during your adventures or through using some of your starting resources to get it. It is not a traditional class where you pick it and get special things from it, but rather you get it as an addition to your class. Rather than unlocking new things for it through leveling up, you instead obtain special perks of it through research and learning more. Thusly, in comes the Heliomancer…

Lore

Val'halamut, the Sun Bringer, sought to bring his vengeance and new life to others across the lands so to his worshipers he gave new knowledges upon how to bend the sun's energy to scorch their enemies and mend their wounds. Thusly through these powers came the sun stones and heliomancy, as wizards, druids, and clerics across the lands brought light to the darkest lands.

Fuctionalities

While I can not give away everything about how heliomancy works, I can give a bit on how you will obtain it and what it can allow you to do. For your character to learn spells classified as heliomancy spells they must first find a tome of heliomancy typically called a "Solaris Arcanum" after which they will learn the starter cantrip of the class, Sun Bolt. They will learn this as something bound to their soul and not bound to their magic and thusly need not a cantrip slot open to learn it.

As for what it will allow you to do the heliomancer pseudoclass will give you the ability to cast various heliomancy spells along with (if progressed with far enough) special passive abilities like getting an extra hit dice worth of health back during short rests in sunlight.

Now on to the next thing

Updates on Rose of a Wolf and Of Knights & Wolves

So if you been around for long enough you know I have a game available called Rose of a Wolf a... quite cringy text adventure game about a man who is stranded on an island with a strange beast. I am honestly tempted to rework it and try to fix the story but I am also tempted to finish it from where it is now, but I am currently focused on other bigger projects.
As for Of Knights & Wolves... well... I really want to work on it more and finish it, but with how much I have on my plate I may not be able to... likewise... I feel like I didn't choose the best thing to make the game with... I may shift to using an RPG maker instead for that would be a lot more suitable to it than trying to make an RPG from scratch.

Updates on Brotherly Love and The One Who Stands

Brotherly Love needs to take a backseat currently to a bigger and less... lewd project. if I were to continue work on it, I may just make it a short comic for now, but that is not exactly what I wanted out of it soooo... yeah, it's getting the gravy treatment and is being put on the back burner
As for The One Who Stands... well... honestly, I can not continue it on Deviant Art due to the fact that I can't really easily access Deviant Art anymore so if I do continue it, it may be on Furaffinity from now on. Likewise, it may also get the gravy treatment due to... well... I am really busy.

Updates on YouTube

I have been recording small snippets now and then, but I have plans for YouTube. I am gonna be working on more Warframe tutorials and explanation videos. I am gonna redo the Zaw Video and may release a Kitgun video afterwards due to understanding those two systems the most and having had done a lot with custom weapons and then I am going to do one on Liches, but until then and until I get the scripts done... I may actually do some Speed Paints or memes videos to fill stuff out.

Animations?

Yes, I have mentioned that before and, well, honestly I have watched Beastars recently and that has really inspired me to take another crack at 3D animations and CGI and I have a project in the works, but that is gonna be another story until I get stuff figured out. I won't say much cause there is a chance this may just flop like a lot of my big artsy projects, but I will say this...

"It's almost Fight Night
So call us the K-9's
Cause like the beasts
We've got one painful ass bite."
- V

Now then, that is all I have/can say. Stay safe, Comrades, and keep howlin'.
Peace.

Soooo... Deviant Art...

Yeaaaah, I can't use it anymore. Between the management's decision to ignore actual problems and instead try to fix the layout which wasn't broken to begin with and the fact that I can't even access it anymore due to the fact that eclipse is incompatible with both half-screened browsers and Internet Explorer (Which I still use) so it's not even like I could try to give them another chance... so... yeah... unfortunately not even I can leave myself behind for the keepers of the places I stay in decide to destroy those places...

TL;DR, I may not be active on DA anymore cause I can not access DA anymore.

Being Unconventional

Let's chit chat about something really quick... Something different from meta and what not; Unconventional Tactics. I usually get told by my friends while we play games how I use things that are really bad or enjoy systems that are terrible (Cough Cough Self Damage in Warframe) but I'd like to say, not to them but to you, that it does not matter how you play a game, just enjoy it! Do ya' thang.

This isn't supposed to be a side complaint to those friends cause the constant thought of what is good vs what is bad always leads to us making some very interesting discoveries.

So let me propose a thought to you... next time you think a gun is a piece of junk, try it out in a different way... you may surprise yourself. :)
